After the Government endorsed the Finch report last July, an initiative to fund 30 research intensive UK HEIs was announced today. Funding will be delivered via Research Councils and UK Higher Education Funding Councils to cover the APC expenses associated to Open Access publishing, and will add up to the block funding grants to be provided by RCUK from Apr 1st, 2013.

Several stakeholders in the UK research information management domain -including the UK RepNet Project- are already working on the analysis of the requirements for tracking Open Access outputs and payments.
